It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gerri L. Papillon, the founder of Camp Papillon Animal Shelter. Gerri passed away on August 13, 2022 from medical complications related to a courageous and hard-fought battle against cancer.

Gerri had been dedicated to saving thousands of animals through fostering and adoption since Camp Papillon’s conception in 2006. Thanks to her vision and unwavering community support, the organization grew into a 33-acre animal rescue that in addition to fostering and adopting, provides shelter to dozens of animals in need. Camp Papillon believes in the emotional enrichment of the animals it rescues, and has undoubtedly connected hundreds of families to their beloved pets. The organization is an integral and crucial part of our community.

Gerri had a mission of saving animals as well as a future vision of improving our community and those who live here. The work that she has done in her lifetime is invaluable. Her dream is still alive and we intend to carry it forward.

As her loved ones and staff continue to grieve, we will be cancelling the Annual Glamp Papillon Gala scheduled to take place on September 25, 2022. Please stay alert for a future announcement of a similar event that will be taking place in the upcoming months.

In lieu of sending flowers, please consider a donation in Gerri’s honor: https://www.camppapillon.org/donate
