"Camp Papillon was established in memory of Patsy Ann (Patt) Papillon who passed away in April of 2005 from cancer.
Patsy Ann would open her home "Camp Papillon" as she wold call it, to all of the family dogs.
The name Camp Papillon is  dedicated in memory of her love for animals.
She was a strong advocate for all animals,  giving to many charities for the sake of the animals."

Camp Papillon is a non-profit, no-kill 501c3 animal rescue group dedicated to giving all homeless animals in the Poconos a chance for life.  Nearly one hundred animals are currently in foster care at Camp Papillon. Each year hundreds of animals including dogs, cats, rabbits and many more are placed in their forever homes by Camp Papillon.  Camp Papillon consists of a board of directors and many dedicated volunteers and numerous Foster Parents.  Camp Papillon dedicates much time and manpower to assisting dogs with behavior and medical issues, that would have been euthanized at any kill shelter.  Our volunteers and trainers work hard to see that every dog that comes to Camp Papillon can find it's own forever home. Until they do they stay at Camp Papillon.  Please consider your next companion to be a Camp Papillon animal.

In Loving Memory
Angie (aka Nellie)

Angie , our forever foster lost her battle on June 11th.  Angie had been at Camp Papillon since November 2008. Surrounded by all Camp Papillon amazing board members by her side she remained smiling knowing that she was loved.  Our dedicated board members who raced to Angie’s side to let her know how special she truly was.  She will be so missed here.     She was a miracle to be alive when she was dropped off at the SPCA and faced death.  She never complained and completely enjoyed life.  Camp Papillon thanks everyone who helped give Angie 8  months of a great life.  And especially thank you to Dr. Church at Blakeslee Animal Clinic and their amazing staff who always went above and beyound for Angie. To read more about Angie's story click here.

Featured Camp Papillon Story for June

Tweet- ADOPTED !
I will be the love of your life
Tweet is a medium sized (about 50lbs.), Lab/Shepherd Mix. This pretty girl has been through some difficult times. Tweets came to Camp Papillon originally two years ago, after her owner went to jail.  The owner didn't want the dog so he told his father to take Tweet out back & shoot her.  The father decided instead to take Tweet (who was only 1 year old at the time) to the vet to have her put down.  The vet told them that he would not put her down, and the vet called Camp Papillon instead.  Tweet was adopted two years ago.  Her owners passed away and the other is very sick and cannot care for her any longer. Initially, she is hesitant when being approached and barks for a while, but does not jump. With some patience she can be approached and petted and does enjoy it. Tweet needs some leash training and prefers not to go on car rides. She enjoys the company of dogs, cats and children. Noises such as thunder do scare her. During her evaluation, she did not mind having her teeth, legs, ears, head, back, tail and belly checked. Presently, she sleeps in her own bed. Her owner would love for her to go to a home with children as she enjoys them so much. However, this is not a requirement for adoption.
